Welcome to Cats Protection - East Devon Branch

Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs

Updated December 7 2017

All of our cats have been examined by a veterinary surgeon, been vaccinated against flu and enteritis, treated against fleas, roundworm and tapeworm and any sick cats have been blood tested for FIV and FeLV. They are also identity chipped and neutered when they are old enough. The cost of all this is around £200 per cat, so we do ask for a standard adoption fee of £50. However, depending on circumstances, we can be flexible. We do not have a homing centre but foster homes spread throughout East Devon where volunteers look after cats until they are homed.

We urgently need a volunteer to help administer our ASSISTED NEUTERING SCHEME

Neutering of cats not required for breeding is one of Cats Protection's most important aims, second only to rehoming. Neutered cats are happier cats and the numbers of stray and unwanted cats can be humanely controlled. Our Neutering Voucher Officer would receive enquiries from the general public and must feel able to ask politely whether the enquirer is eligible for assisted neutering, being in receipt of means tested benefits or on a low income, or could make a contribution to the cost of the neutering.

Though not essential, a volunteer with computer skills would be preferable. Training will be given and help is always available from the Branch and our Headquarters. If you feel you would enjoy helping with this vital work, please contact the Branch Co-ordinator on 01395 568716or our Welfare Officer on 01884 277 929.
